Julian Patrick

Freewatt Group CEO

Julian is our founder and Freewatt Group CEO. He started Freewatt in 2008 with a passion to help save our environment and a vision to help renewable technologies replace costly high-carbon energy sources. His mantra is that only by making environmentalism financially attractive will it ever become mainstream and improve the World in which we live.

He trained in Germany and has lectured in solar PV in the UK. Julian is an experienced electrical and mechanical engineer, with a background in sales and marketing gained in a blue-chip pharmaceutical company. He now oversees strategic development of the Group and manages our large-scale investment projects.

Julian lives near Lincoln in one of the UK's greenest Georgian properties with his wife and three children. In his spare time he enjoys walking, sailing and skiing.

Nicola Curson

Finance Director

Nicola joined Freewatt in March 2014, bringing with her nearly twenty years accountancy and financial experience. Before joining Freewatt, Nicola was an Audit Manager of a top 20 UK accountancy firm before becoming FC in a London based PLC focused on providing Foodservice Design solutions to both corporate and leisure industry clients in the UK and Middle East. Nicola has been the financial lead in Foodservice projects delivered to RBS, Transport for London, Google, Manchester United FC, NATO and Khalifa International Staduim, Qatar. Nicola has a wealth of experience in financial control, forecasting and modelling whilst maintaining a strong customer focus.

James Blunt

Business Development Director

James has over 15 years’ experience in the renewable energy and environmental arena. In 1998 he helped to develop and managed the first environmental exchange with OM Group, the Swedish exchange company, and subsequently spent 10 years working for Marex Spectron, one of the largest energy and commodities brokers in the world.  During this time he set up and ran their environmental broking business in areas including renewable energy and carbon trading.  More recently he developed the renewable energy projects business with particular focus on project finance within the sustainable energy space - he has worked on projects all over the world including Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Since July 2012 he has assisted companies to source finance in the renewable energy and environmental space with funding for over 100MW of development arranged to date. Previously James worked at a number of major institutions including JP Morgan in their equities business and Ranks Hovis McDougall in sales and business development roles.

Tim Cieslik

Engineering Manager

Tim joined Freewatt in 2014. He brings with him 19 years' experience in the electrical industry, including 11kV overhead lines, control systems & commercial & industrial electrical projects. His most notable project to date is the sole responsibility for the 8,000 location robotic baggage handling system below Heathrow's Terminal 5 runway. His role was that of project manager for the 'going live stage', and the commissioning of the 30 robots. He has also supported Freewatt as a sub-contractor and managed the build of their own 1.1MW Solar farm, at Stow.

Bob Huntley

Installation Team Leader

Bob has a BSc(hons) in Recreation Management from Lincoln University. He has a keen interest in the environment and other outdoor pursuits. He has worked in a number of forestry and landscaping roles and has also managed a successful project to provide jobs for long-term unemployed young people as part of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. He has also worked on an award winning Eco-build project learning various building techniques and further developed his interest in renewable resources

Ben Vincent

Surveyor

Ben joined Freewatt in January 2015. He holds a business degree and has worked in renewables since 2010.

Ben is focussed on the domestic market and small scale commercial projects.

Sally Bates

Project designer

Sally joined the Freewatt team in January 2011 having enjoyed a number of years working in customer service and managerial roles within the restaurant industry. She has a background in Graphic Design and graduated in 2005 with an honours degree in media production from the University of Lincoln.

Yannis Rousakis

Design Engineer

Yannis joined Freewatt in March 2015. He completed his Mechanical Engineering studies in Leeds University with honours and his MSc in Design of Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Management in Bradford University. Yannis has been managing projects / designing projects, parts and assemblies from Cranes to recycling equipment and from fusion energy welding components to detailed solar panel installations since 2002.

Amanda Legate

Freewatt Group Managing Director

Amanda joined Freewatt in May in 2013 having spent 17 years working as a Partner in one of the largest accountancy firms in the region. Her extensive knowledge of successful owner managed businesses, Amanda brings considerable expertise in strategic planning, risk management and financial control. Amanda also holds a variety of treasury roles across the business community. She lives in Retford and in her spare time enjoys spending time with her family and is a real ale fan.

Laurence Duncan

Managing Director Freewatt Developments

Laurence was trained by Price Waterhouse as a chartered accountant. He has a wealth of project and senior management experience with large UK plc's including Boots, Dell, Booker, 3663 and RAC plc. In 2006 Laurence founded ICE Renewables Ltd which now turns over £7m per annum and is a market leader on medium scale wind power.

Alex Riley

Director, Freewatt Ltd

Alex has a degree in Environmental Science and has worked for IEMA and the Sustainability & Climate Change team in Lincolnshire County Council. Alex is both our Microgeneration surveyor and environmental consultant and joined Freewatt in 2010 following a career in various areas of environmentalism and sustainability.

Alex focuses on commercial customer management.

DJ Bruens

Operations Director, Freewatt Construction

DJ joined the Group to head Freewatt Construction in January 2015. Before specialising in solar PV he was an Ex-Chief engineer on Cruise ships and is used to managing large scale projects of an electrical nature.

He has over 12 years of experience in the solar industry across a worldwide platform including Japan, Spain, Italy and the UK. He has developed, designed and built over 75MW of large scale ground mounted and roof mounted solar installations.

DJ brings wtih him an enviable wealth of industry contacts and supplier relationships combined with a proven design and construction knowledge with a willingness to get the job done in a professional manner.

Charlotte Horner

Agricultural Surveyor

Charlotte joined Freewatt at the beginning of 2015 following on from 4 years working in the Energy department at Woldmarsh Producers. She has a degree in Geography from Newcastle University and is currently doing her masters in Renewable Energy and Enterprise Management.

Charlotte lives in Louth and spends her spare time at the beach with her boyfriend walking the dog. Charlotte focuses on the agricultural sector.

Louis Cherril

Project Manager

Louis joined the Freewatt team in 2014

Dan Doughty

Installation Team Leader

Dan joined the Freewatt team in June 2010. H has eleven years of building experience and initially started his career as a bricklayer. He qualified to NVQ Level 1 & 2 before expanding his skills in to general building work.

Peter Allen-Williams

Surveyor

Peter is a Chartered Engineer and Environmental Manager. He was another satisfied Freewatt customer before joining Freewatt in August 2011 after a career working in government. After four years working for the Environment Agency, he was keen to get into a growing local company working to deliver greener solutions in Lincolnshire and across the UK.

Peter focuses on both residential and business customers.
